#035 The Role of Coaching in Mental Health

May 30, 2022

In this week’s episode we are talking about the role of coaching in mental health. It is a huge part of our mission to support everyday mental health in a proactive way and we know that many coaches are nervous about the role coaching can play in mental health so in this episode we want to help coaches, and leaders, understand how coaching can confidently support everyday wellbeing.

What you will learn in this episode:

  • Understanding what mental health is
  • The continuum of mental health
  • How to hold a safe space in your coaching practice when it comes to mental health
  • Working within your zone of competence
  • When coaching is appropriate and not appropriate in this context
  • How we can support people to resource themselves
  • When it is the right time to refer on to a specialist and when we can work as a coach at the same time as specialist involvement

Coaching can be very positive for someone’s mental health as long as you understand what the person needs and work within your own sphere of experience.
